Goombay Festival Time!

Celebrate The Bahamas in Coconut Grove - June 3-7, 2009

The Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival is one of the largest Black heritage festivals in the United States, celebrating the Bahamian pioneers who were early settlers in Coconut Grove. Enjoy colorful costumed junkanoo groups dancing to Caribbean rhythms, with rake 'n scrape instruments and steel band music. Throughout the weekend, music will fill the air from three stages and there will be numerous vendors selling a variety of arts, crafts and food along Grand Avenue in Downtown Coconut Grove. Sample conch fritters, peas 'n rice and a variety of Caribbean delights while browsing for colorful souvenirs.
