Bessie's Bistro Opens at Jewish Museum of Florida
Visitors to the Jewish Museum of Florida on South Beach now have a place to nosh. Bessie's Bistro recently opened at the Museum, and will be serving a menu featuring delicious wraps and salads, soups and sandwiches, traditional foods, pastries and ice cream. Of course, everything is kosher! The Bistro is named in honor of Bess Myerson, who is the only Jewish woman to achieve the Miss America title, in 1945. Ms. Myerson generously donated the funds to build the Bistro. Her parents, Bella and Louis Myerson, lived in the South Beach neighborhood of the Museum. The Jewish Museum of Florida on South Beach is housed in two adjacent lovingly restored historic buildings that were once synagogues for Miami Beach's first Jewish congregation. The focal point of the Museum is MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida: 1763 to the Present, its core exhibit, and temporary history and art exhibits that change periodically. Bessie's Bistro is open during Museum hours (Tuesday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) except closed on Shabbat (Saturdays).
