Close Encounter of the Lemur Kind...

Lemur Experience at Jungle Island
Baby lemurs from Madagascar are the latest furry attraction at Jungle Island! Visitors can interact with the gold-eyed primates during the Lemur Encounter, which includes a 45-minute educational session and a chance to play with and hold the charming little rascals. Maximum of three people, the cost is $45 per person, for a single person the cost is $60. Please note: Children under 6 years of age are not allowed, for safety reasons.

Here are some Lemur Fun Facts:


  • One of the most important food sources for lemurs is the Tamarind tree.

  • Lemurs use their sense of smell to communicate with each other.

  • Females socially dominate males in all circumstances, including feeding priority.

Old Favorite, New Location

Pacific Time Open for Lunch
Pacific Time, the popular Lincoln Road dining spot that recently relocated to the Miami Design District, is now open for lunch. The new Pacific Time, still owned by James Beard Award nominee Chef Jonathan Eismann, promises the same delicious California-Asian fusion dishes that so many locals grew to know and love on South Beach. Free Sundays at Fairchild
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is offering free admission to all visitors on Sundays during the month of August. It’s the perfect opportunity to walk Fairchild’s grounds, have a family picnic or simply sit on a bench and read your favorite book while overlooking 83 acres of lush tropical paradise. Highlights include Bailey Palm Glade, the giant African baobab tree near the historical Gate House Museum, the cool tropical rain forest, and the Whitman Tropical Fruit Pavilion. Don't miss Fairchild's excellent gift shop, which sells whimsical house gifts, books on local flora, gardening supplies, jewelry, tropical soaps and more.

Philippe Now Open

Gourmet Chinese on South Beach
Good news for chow hounds - no pun intended. Philippe by Philippe Chow is now open. This beautiful, sleek dining space is located in the Gansevoort South Hotel and features upscale Chinese cuisine. The dining room is cozy chic, with white and black banquettes accented by red hanging lamps. After dinner, be sure to head up to the Gansevoort's Pool Bar (18th floor) for one of the best views in town.
