Miami Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival - May 31stEach year, the stretch of Biscayne Bay in front of Brickell Key is the site for a popular Chinese cultural event - Hong Kong-style Dragon Boat Racing. Colorfully decorated boats and their teams will race down a 250-meter and a 500-meter waterway, with more than 20,000 spectators cheering them on. The boats measure 40 feet in length, 4 feet in width, and carry 20 paddlers, 1 drummer, and 1 steersperson. The Dragon Boat race combines modern day teamwork, enthusiasm, and strategy. Admission is FREE, and you can park in the Bank of America garage at 701 Brickell Avenue or along Brickell Bay Drive for free. Parking at 777 Brickell Avenue in the SunTrust Bank building garage costs $5. Racing runs from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and the festival is open to public from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
