Get your tailgate menus ready. This year’s FedEx Orange Bowl game features ACC Champion Virginia Tech Hokies (11-2) facing the Kansas Jayhawks (11-1). The match-up marks the first-ever meeting of the two teams on the gridiron. It will be a clash of opposing forces as the nation’s second ranked scoring defense in the Hokies (allowing 15.5 points per game) go against the nation’s second ranked scoring offense in Kansas (scoring 44.3 points per game). The game takes place January 3, 2008 at 8 p.m. at Dolphin Stadium, 2269 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens, FL 33056. The game will be televised live on the FOX Network, as well as on ESPN Radio. Ebony Fashion Fair – 50th Anniversary
‘Tis the season to be gla-mo-rous…. What better place to start than at the Ebony Fashion Fair? Glam Odyssey: A Fashion Journey into Bliss and Beyond is the theme of the world’s largest traveling fashion show, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a stellar lineup of top designers from around the world. The show will encompass five decades of fashion and feature top names such as Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Oscar de La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Bill Blass and more. The Coral Gables show is hosted by the Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, with a portion of proceeds going to scholarships. Things are getting even beefier on South Beach. The latest arrival in the battle of the steakhouses is Texas de Brazil, located on the water at Miami Beach Marina. Loosen your top belt loop, grab your knife and fork and get ready as waiters in gaucho garb roam table to table carving up an array of sizzling meats, including Angus beef, lamb, pork chicken and Brazilian sausage. Non-meat eaters can enjoy fresh lobster or shrimp or the vast salad bar, which offers more than 50 seasonal selections. Texas de Brazil’s elegant interior decor features an octagonal shaped wine cabinet at the entrance, marble counters, ruby red walls and a soaring ceiling with iron chandeliers.
