Movies on the Beach
Dig your toes in the sand and watch a new release outdoors under the stars. Beginning November 21st on North Beach, you can watch Hollywood’s latest movies on a 60 ft. screen with Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Full concessions include beer and wine, and rainchecks are good anytime. Admission prices are $9 for adults, $6 for children (5-12), $6 for seniors (60+). Discounts for Miami Beach residents. The Miami River
Take an exciting ride through a fascinating waterway – the Miami River. Dr. Paul George, from the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, hosts this adventure along the same banks where ancient Tequesta Indians settled. See the famous Miami Circle archaeological site near the mouth of the Miami River. Witness the colorful tugboats, Haitian freighters, houseboats and drawbridges that bring life to the river. Discover the lesser-known Miami River communities, parks, restaurants, freshwater springs and the site of the rapids. Possibly see manatees along the way, while hearing about Miami’s early history. Hey, hey – it’s Aladdin
Well, he always did have a knack for slapstick. Pop icon Davy Jones of The Monkees stars in this holiday season’s hilarious musical extravaganza Aladdin, presented by Jude Parry’s acclaimed Gold Coast Theatre Company. Performed in the classic British Panto style, the Theater Company offers a comedic, over-the-top fairytale, packed with slapstick, topical gags and audience participation. Aladdin has four show dates, including performances in Broward County. The Miami show is Dec. 30th at the Colony Theater, 1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach; tel: (305) 674-1040. Grammy-winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval performs in what is sure to be one of the highlights of the FIU Music Festival.
